Fourteen teddy bears were hidden in Vicarage Grove on Friday 3rd July ready for Acorn class to visit the wood that afternoon and seek them out. It was Acorns first class visit to Grove Woods and several parents joined the party. The children were keen to find the teddies and spotted them in all sorts of nooks and crannies. They took turns to lead the class along the path so that each child could find a bear to carry to the picnic. As we completed the circuit of the wood everyone had found a teddy apart from one rather disappointed member of the class so we all then retraced our steps and all looked for the missing bear. The missing teddy was soon discovered and everyone was happy.
The class was encouraged to tell their teddy bear about all the special things they had seen and heard in the wood.
A dead ash tree had been felled near the path and the class were invited to use it as a balance to walk along, with or without a helping hand while still carrying their teddy bear. They balanced very well!
Then it was time to spread the rug out in Grove Piece and share a picnic. Strawberries were popular and we even had enough to offer to the adults. The class had baked biscuits at school that morning and they were keen to taste them. They were delicious!
It was then time to return to school and say goodbye to the teddies.
Hopefully, the class will look forward to their next visit to the woods.
